# Downtown Northampton

Northampton's walkable downtown is just steps from the Smith College campus. Main Street is lined with independent shops, bookstores, cafes, and restaurants -- it's consistently rated one of the best small-town downtowns in New England.

The town is also home to a thriving arts scene, live music venues, and the [Academy of Music Theatre](https://academyofmusictheatre.com/), one of the last remaining municipal theaters in the country.
